What we believe

Saved by grace. Living for his glory.

At the heart of our beliefs is the good news of Jesus Christ: that we are saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone — so we can live in restored relationship with God and others.

Our Denomination

What is a United Reformed Church?

The United Reformed Churches in North America (URCNA) is a relatively young federation of churches, formed in 1995. In 2004, it became a provisional member of the North American Presbyterian and Reformed Council, connecting it with like-minded churches across the continent.

As United Reformed churches, we believe that Jesus Christ is the only Savior and Lord over all of life. We are fully committed to the Bible as God’s perfect Word, and we hold to its teachings as summarized in the historic Reformed confessions — the Three Forms of Unity (the Heidelberg Catechism, Belgic Confession, and Canons of Dort) — as well as the Ecumenical Creeds of the early church. Today, URCNA churches can be found across North America, from British Columbia to Florida, and Ontario to California.

History

A community of faith hope and love, blessed through the generations.

Trinity United Reformed Church of St. Catharines was originally founded in 1964 under the name Trinity Orthodox Reformed Church. Rooted in the Reformed faith, the congregation began with a strong commitment to biblical preaching, confessional integrity, and covenantal community. Over the decades, the church grew steadily under the leadership of faithful pastors and elders, serving families across the Niagara region.

In the mid-1990s, Trinity became part of the United Reformed Churches in North America (URCNA), a federation formed by churches seeking to maintain Reformed doctrine and worship. Officially incorporated in 1996 as Trinity United Reformed Church of St. Catharines, the congregation continues to worship at its location on Scott Street, offering weekly services, catechism instruction, and a vibrant community life. With God’s faithfulness in every generation, we remain committed to proclaiming Christ crucified and building up His church through Word and sacrament.

Extending Christ’s love beyond our walls

We’re grateful to support faithful ministries and organizations — locally and around the world — that share the hope of the gospel in word and deed.
